Economics of Land Use and Soil Health

A new project at the Allamakee SWCD office is focusing how different land uses can economically fit into a farming system.  The focus of this project is to encourage cropland conversion to pasture, adding a small grain to a rotation, utilizing cover crops on manure applied acres, and including conservation provisions in farm leases.  There will be many articles in the local newspaper and on this website as well as field days and workshops to cover the different topics.  More information can be found by clicking here.

A new section was added to the website with information about different aspects of soil health (click here).  New videos, studies, and other information will be provided periodically.  Check back often to learn more about soil health.
