The Allamakee SWCD was awarded a special RCPP-EQIP (Regional Conservation Partnership Program) project that started in September 2017. We anticipate having funds for 5 years. This project is focused on 3 different areas to improve soil health and improve economic resilience. Please click on the topics below to learn more about the practices.
- Adding small grains to a corn-soybean rotation.
- Converting cropland to pasture and including rotational grazing
- Planting cover crops on fields that have manure applied
Funds are available for a variety of different practices and will provide a special EQIP cost-share rate for most of the practices. Please contact the office if you are interested in any of these practices. The next EQIP sign-up deadline will be March 16, 2018 and there will be a special EQIP deadline of June 15, 2018 for the RCPP funds only.
This project builds on the education/outreach efforts of the Leopold Center grant, which is currently in its third year.
